Dental Veneers

Live Life Well
Fight oral cancer
Knowing that the lifestyle choices you make can affect your risk for oral
cancer is an important step toward its prevention. Although people who
smoke or use smokeless tobacco remain at highest risk, for the great
majority of those who do not use tobacco, dietary choices and physical
activity are the most important modifi able factors of cancer risk.
Here are the American Cancer Society’s recommendations for
individual choices:
1. Eat a variety of healthful foods, with an emphasis on plant sources.
2. Adopt a physically active lifestyle.
3. Maintain a healthful weight throughout life.
4. If you drink alcoholic beverages, limit consumption. Alcohol
combined with tobacco increases the risk of oral cancers.
Your other most important step? Regular dental exams. Oral
cancer can be caught early, even as a pre-cancer.

Are you unhappy with youveneerr smile? Are you tired of yellow or discolored teeth that add age to your appearance? With metal- free Veneers that look and feel like real teeth, you can erase time and look and feel years younger in just a few short weeks. Dr. Jay Ajmo of Palm Beach Gardens specializes in Cosmetic Dentistry, Implant Dentistry as well as I.V. Sedation.

Dental Veneers are a very popular treatment in cosmetic dentistry today and are used for either aesthetic purposes or when front teeth are damaged, chipped or broken. A Veneer is a custom fabricated shell (as thin as a contact lense) of ceramic material that has the appearance and translucency of natural teeth. Dental veneers are bonded over the front surface of a tooth to cover up worn down tooth enamel, slightly crooked teeth (instant orthodontics), gaps between teeth, and chiped or cracked teeth. Veneers can be fabricated to any shape or color enabling you to sit down with Dr. Ajmo and design your smile just the way you want. Dental veneers are the classic treatment used to create the much sought after Hollywood smile, or celebrity smile makeover. They can give you a perfectly aligned symmetrical white smile and with the translucent quality of ceramic materials available today they provide a totally natural look. Our Veneers are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. Dr. Ajmo recommends minimal preparation veneers, which are as thin as a contact lens so that they blend with surrounding teeth to look natural and beautiful.

Dr. Ajmo will thoroughly examine your teeth to first of all ensure that your teeth are clean, healthy and that your gums are free from any signs of periodontal disease. It is very important that your teeth and gums are healthy before undergoing any major dental treatment. Once Dr. Ajmo has had a good look at your teeth he can begin to design your new smile and make it ready for the preparation of your existing teeth to accommodate the veneers.

Usually dental veneers are fitted over a period of 2 visits to the dentist but in some cases it can take up to 3-4 appointments. We look forward to seeing you! Call today for no charge consultation.

Dr. Ajmo brings 3D State of the Art Diagnostics to PGA Center for Advanced Dentistry

PGA Center for Advanced Dentistry uses high definition 3D CT scans for implant diagnosis and treatment planning.  CT scans offer an in depth 3D view of your teeth and jaws identifying surrounding vital structures not detectable with traditional x-rays.  This allows us to more predictably and precisely place and restore dental implants for tooth replacement and dental reconstruction.  3D imaging requires less radiation than traditional x-rays and is rapidly becoming the standard of care in implant dentistry.

Complete scans are performed right in our office and take only 19 seconds. For more information call our office at: (561) 627-8666 or read more about it on our website:  http://www.pgadentistry.com/dental-ct-scan.html

What is Periodontal Disease and how to prevent it

Whether your gum disease is stopped, slowed, or gets worse depends a great deal on how well you care for your teeth and gums every day, from this point forward. Please call Dr Ajmo’s office at PGA Center for advanced Dentistry.

At PGA Center for Advanced Dentistry we recommend:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day (with a fluoride toothpaste).
  • Floss regularly to remove plaque from between teeth. Or use a device such as a special brush or wooden or plastic pick recommended by a dental professional.
  • Visit the dentist routinely for a check-up and professional cleaning.
  • Don’t smoke
  • Call Dr Ajmo’s office to get regular cleaning appointments with our hygienists  at (561)627-8666

People usually don’t show signs of gum shutterstock_55024834disease until they are in their 30s or 40s.  Men are more likely to have gum disease than women.  Although teenagers rarely develop periodontitis, they can develop gingivitis, the milder form of gum disease.  Most commonly, gum disease develops when plaque is allowed to build up along and under the gum line. Please call PGA Center for Advanced Dentistry and we can help guide you to a healthier smile and mouth.

PGA Center for Advanced Dentistry always recommend fluoride

Fluoride is a natural element that can be found in many things, like the water we drink and the food we eat. Decades ago, scientists began to notice that children who lived in places where fluoride occurred naturally in the water, had fewer dental cavities. Fluoride that is absorbed by your body is used by the cells that build your teeth to make stronger enamel. Topical fluoride – fluoride that is applied to the outside of the enamel – makes the crystals that form enamel more durable. Tooth enamel crystals that have fluoride are much more resistant to acid. They are less likely to breakdown and cause the tooth surface to become porousfluoride

This is why here at our Palm Beach Gardens office, Dr. Jay Ajmo and his hygienists always recommend fluoride treatment for our patients.  Call us or ask Sarah or Jen on your next hygiene appointment if you could benefit from fluoride treatment.  See you soon!

Natural and Durable Porcelain Veneers at PGA Center for Advanced Dentistry

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length. Dental veneers are made from porcelain materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains and mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. At PGA Center for Advanced Dentistry, Dr. Ajmo takes pride in creating custom smiles for his patients. Contact us at (561) 627-8666 to set up a no charge consultation today!

Veneers are routinely used to fix:veneers

  • Teeth that are discolored — either because of root canal treatment; stains from tetracycline or other drugs, excessive fluoride or other causes; or the presence of large resin fillings that have discolored the tooth
  • Teeth that are worn down
  • Teeth that are chipped or broken
  • Teeth that are misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped (for example, have craters or bulges in them)

Heartburn can jeopardize oral health

Make The Connection
Heartburn can jeopardize oral health
People who suffer from heartburn – or acid refl ux – usually suffer a double
whammy: a threat to good oral health often accompanies uncomfortable
symptoms such as throat irritation, gagging, and a bitter taste.
Stomach acids are meant to fl ow through the digestive system, but for people
with refl ux, acid will actually fl ow up into the esophagus and sometimes even
into the throat and mouth which may have an impact on your smile. Teeth have a
neutral pH of 5.5, but stomach acid, as you would expect, is much more acidic at a
pH level of 2.0. Because of this, refl ux will erode tooth enamel, inviting sensitivity,
pain, and discoloration. Bad breath may also become chronic.
If you suffer from acid refl ux, please seek treatment from your doctor and see
us to ensure your teeth are protected.
