A Clean White Smile!

Just as what you wear can
express your innermost self, your
smile speaks silently to others
about who you are and what you
anticipate from life. A friendly
open smile projects self-assurance
and positive expectations, and
attractive white teeth communicate
cleanliness and health. Everyone in
the family can benefi t from a smile
that’s their sparkling best – but even
better if you’re of a certain age – your
vivacious smile can help take years off!
Here’s some more great news…
You can eliminate darkened or
yellowing enamel stains created
by everyday smoking, eating, and
drinking. Even enamel that has become
discolored due to illness, medication, or
heredity can be brightened.
How? We can provide two very popular options that
can dramatically improve your smile – supervised teeth
whitening and cosmetic bonding.
Whitening has become the most-demanded cosmetic
procedure for good reason – it works. Your teeth can be
whitened by up to eight shades …
very quickly – and there’s no upper age limit!
Bonding tooth-colored materials that match your own enamel to the surface
of your teeth masks discoloration while adding strength. These same long-lasting
materials can be used to replace old silver-colored (amalgam) fi llings and to correct
minor chips or gaps between teeth.
In fact, we can mix ’n’ match these procedures to enhance your unique smile
and incorporate white composite fi llings, inlays, onlays, and sophisticated cosmetic
veneers to keep you smiling … whatever your age! Please call for your complimentary consultation!

Relaxing with I.V. Sedation

All of us here understand that
despite the amazing advances in
modern dentistry, some patients still
feel signifi cant anxiety when faced
with dental procedures. To allay some
of those fears, we offer what’s called
Intravenous Conscious Sedation (or IV
Sedation).
With this type of sedation, we
administer medication directly into
the blood stream. Patients remain
conscious and are able to understand
and respond to requests from your
dental team. For most people, IV
Sedation induces a state of deep
relaxation and a feeling of not being
bothered by what’s going on. Members
of our dental team have been specially
trained in IV Sedation, and would be
pleased to discuss this option with you
if you feel it might make your dental
appointment more comfortable.

ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DENTIST? I.V Sedation vs. Oral Sedation

Dr. Jay Ajmo has been practicing advanced dentistry in Palm Beach Gardens since 1987. His areas of focus are on complete Dental Restoration, Surgical Placement of Dental Implants and Aesthetic Smile Design.

Dr. Ajmo now offers I.V. and Oral Sedation Dentistry as a unique service to clients who experience stress or anxiety about visiting the dentist. Patients can safely sleep through their visits and have little to no memory of their procedure.

With the comfort of sedation, years of neglect or embarrassing problems can often be corrected in just a few visits. COSMETIC DENTISTRY

Dr. Jay L. Ajmo combines advanced skills and techniques to restore health and custom design smile makeovers for his discriminating clientele at PGA Dental Associates.

As we age, many of us begin considering cosmetic procedures to turn back the clock or enhance our looks. Just as the addition of a few pounds or wrinkles can make us feel less attractive or self-conscious, our teeth also gradually change with time. They are not as white, they shift, and show signs of cracking, chipping and wear.

The wear of our teeth almost always leads to a gradual collapsing of the bite with a subsequent collapsing of the lower third of the face. These prominent aging signs along with the unsightly look of dated dental work results in an aged, less vibrant appearance to our faces.

Advanced cosmetic and restorative dentistry allows the exceptionally trained and skilled dentist to restore worn, chipped or broken down teeth with modern aesthetic techniques so as to create healthy, white smiles that will remain beautiful for decades.

Creating beautiful smiles is truly a fusion of advanced training, artistry and expertise. The patient’s specific concerns and desires must be discussed so as there is a mutual understanding between the doctor and the patient.

At PGA Dental Associates, we evaluate the shape, size, and alignment of the teeth as well as the gum tissue contours, lip fullness, and facial musculature of each individual. All of these elements are crucial to creating a beautiful individually natural white smile.

Our patients genuinely appreciate what we do for them and are always grateful for their new smiles. We often make them look and feel 10-15 years younger in just a couple of weeks.

Your smile is the first thing people notice about you and an attractive healthy smile portrays a positive image and enhances self-esteem. For more information or to schedule a complimentary Smile consultation with Dr. Jay Ajmo please call (561) 627-8666.

Healthy Mouth, Healthy Body

I know we have all been told of the importance of brushing three times daily and flossing regularly. Due to recent studies, brushing may be more important than we think. Gingivitis is an early form of gum disease. Accumulation of plaque causes it to inflame the gums. If left untreated gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, which has a more serious and damaging infection.

In a recent blog we discussed a clean healthy smile and periodontal issues. Today we will briefly touch on the healthy mouth and healthy body. Recent studies have demonstrated there is a link between certain diseases and periodontal disease, such as heart disease (more common in woman), diabetes, and stroke. When bacteria enters the bloodstream through the mouth it is dispersed to all major organs. All of the diseases are major causes of death in both woman and men. To better understand the nature of the association and impact gum disease has on our overall health, researchers are constantly studying and analyzing these systemic diseases.

Since the mouth mirrors the overall condition of the body, Dr Ajmo might be the first health care provider to notice symptoms that are out of the ordinary. Many times even lesions (benign or malignant) may show up in the mouth which could be an indication of certain types of cancers. Dr Ajmo would then refer you to your physician for a 2nd opinion and diagnosis. Regular visits to your dental hygienist for routine care and regular visits with Dr. Ajmo will ensure a healthy mouth and allow Dr Ajmo to check for any abnormalities so you can also keep a healthy body! Early detection is key!

Inlays and Onlays

To repair damage to a tooth that is missing a portion of the actual tooth structure, Dr Ajmo might place an inlay or onlay instead of a filling or crown. This is usually done to repair the tooth’s biting surface.

An inlay is made very similar to a filling as it lies in the cusps (biting surface) of the tooth. They are custom made in the lab and then cemented at your second visit with Dr. Ajmo.

An onlay is a larger, more extensive covering that lies over one or more cusps of the tooth structure. An onlay is required when a cavity goes deeper than a larger filling or restoration but is not indicative of a crown. The onlay will also be cemented at a second visit w/ Dr Ajmo.

Onlays and inlays are similar to a filling but they are stronger and much much more durable. To care for an inlay or onlay, you only need to see your qualified dental hygienist for your regular routine visits, and take excellent care of your teeth at home by brushing and flossing 3 times daily.

Dental Implants and you

Are you tired of not having normal chewing function from the lack of missing teeth? Are you considering a removable denture or partial but do not want to deal with the hassle? If so, consider dental implants. Dental implants are the most advanced tooth-replacement option available today. Dr. Ajmo is pleased to offer dental implants at our state of the art office in Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach County, FL.

A dental implant is the alternate restorative option to the dental tooth root. Implants are made from titanium and are anchored into the patients jawbone to support a crown, bridge or permanent denture. The bone in the jaw grows around the implant, just like it would do for a natural tooth, but it is even stronger. An implanted supported crown, bridge or denture is considered different from removable restorations because usually no natural surrounding teeth need to ever be altered. The restoration is permanently attached to the jawbone, giving you a healthy, natural, and beautiful smile.

Regardless of your age, if you had extractions and are missing teeth, or if you are tired of those old dentures, you could be a perfect candidate for dental implants. Implants may replace single missing teeth, multiple missing teeth, and last but not least a full mouth of missing teeth.Call today for further information. We look forward to speaking with you!
